Recently, Roger completed the Harry Connick, Jr. big band "A Holiday Celebration Tour 2008" promoting the November release of Harry's new Christmas CD, "What a Night! A Christmas Album". The tour was November 18 through December 23. Among the cities visited were Louisville, KY, Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH, Charleston, WV, Cleveland, OH, New York, NY, Newark, NJ, Atlantic City, NJ, St. Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN, Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Durham, NC, and Boston MA.   Roger was seen and heard with the Harry Connick, Jr. big band on CBS's "Late Show" with David Letterman, NBC's "The Today Show," the "Rockefeller Plaza Christmas Tree Lighting," ABC's "The View," and CBS's "Rachael Ray."

LA Jazz Institute's Big Band Fiesta

Roger was in Los Angeles for the LA Jazz Institute's Big Band Fiesta, October 8-12, 2008.   He performed with " Viva Kenton" (Latin Kenton Orchestra led by Kim Richmond), "Shorty Rogers Afro-Cuban Influence" (under the direction of Bobby Shew), the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars (also under the direction of Bobby Shew), "The Music of Chico O'Farrill" (under the direction of Arturo O'Farrill, with the Arturo O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra), and performed the "Cuban Fire Suite" (with the Stan Kenton Alumni Orchestra, led by Kim Richmond.)

Similar to the appointment he held at the University of Miami in the early 1990s, Roger is maintaining a position as "Artist in Residence" and "Teacher of Jazz Trumpet" at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
