Roger has been dedicated to music education for decades. He has served as Artist in Residence at a multitude of universities, conservatories, and secondary schools. Many of Roger's private and university students have gone on to become successful performers, educators, and session players in the music industry. Ingram is credited as a successful private instructor and has also presented hundreds of clinics and masterclasses at schools around the world.
Roger will be happy to visit your university, high school, music store, or professional venue to perform, and present a brass clinic or masterclass. Because of educational support for clinics from Bach Brass and Conn-Selmer, the cost for these events is quite affordable.
Roger is also available to join your jazz ensemble or concert band as a guest soloist. Roger has a diverse selection of feature arrangements he can perform. These are offered within varying levels of difficulty to accommodate any high school, college or professional jazz ensemble. Once a clinic and performance has been booked, the musical arrangements will be sent on PDF for rehearsal purposes, well in advance of Roger's scheduled appearance.
During marching band season, Roger will present clinics for high school brass players which concentrate on open-field sound projection, volume control, playing posture, breathing, and pacing. During these clinics, Roger will explain the Yoga breath in detail, offer suggestions for maintaining quick lip response, and give tips on how to hasten lip recovery and achieve range consistency. These clinics are designed to help students survive the marching band season.
At his clinics, Roger will discuss many topics, which can include the following:
trumpet fundamentals
aperture control
tips on how to practice
breathing and the creation of internal compression
the Yoga Breath
achieving endurance
choosing the right equipment
the history and usage of mutes
ensemble playing
the roles of ensemble lead players
big band lead trumpet playing
differences in lead trumpet styles
Even though students, the school, and music stores are welcome to record the clinic for their personal use, these recordings are only for private viewing. Roger does not give permission for this material to be posted online or on social media: YouTube, Facebook, etc.
